Mary Ann Jenkins
Director of Faith Formation and Youth Ministry
I have been on staff here since August 2006. It has been a pleasure to serve this
parish.
My first ministry is my family. I have a wonderful husband and four terrific kids
(two are in high school, one in junior high, and one in elementary school). Life
is very busy at the Jenkins home but we try to live our lives according to the priorities
that I keep posted on our refrigerator:
1. God
2. Family
3. Work/School
4. Activities
It’s a constant challenge but we find that when we live accordingly we experience
rewards, which encourages us.
For my ministry at Saint Priscilla’s I bring with me 10 years of previous experience
working with high school teens in youth ministry. Prior to this I was an elementary
school teacher. God has clearly led me to working with young people and I absolutely
love it! I believe working with teens and building relationships centered in Christ
is the foundation of youth ministry in the Catholic Church. Our culture presents
a significant challenge for teens and their families. My goal is to partner with
parents to create a home for teens at St. Priscilla’s Parish.
As for the young adult ministry (20’s & 30’s), this is a brand new ministry
not only for St. Priscilla but the vicariate, diocese and Catholic Church. This
is one of the largest segments in the Catholic population. As a church we need to
be dedicated to reaching out to them as much as we do the other segments of our
parishes. I look forward to working with this group and together discovering ways
to regenerate them into our parish.
As we continue to walk together in faith may God bless us and guide us as we journey
closer to Him each and every day.
